Powerful Lessons from 10 Muharram

10 Muharram is a special day, also called Ashura. Many sad things happened on this day, which is essential for Muslims and reminds us of many things.

The Day Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Remembered

On this day, our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also told us to remember past events and fast. Fasting is not eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset. Our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Fasting on the day of Ashura is of great merits. I hope Allah will accept it as an expiation for (sins committed in) the previous year” (Muslim).

The Story of Prophet Musa (AS) In 10 Muharram

On 10 Muharram, something unique happened. Allah also saved Prophet Musa (AS) and his people from a lousy king named Pharaoh. This day is also important because it shows Allah’s help and reminds us to trust Allah. Allah says in the Quran, “And We inspired to Moses, ‘Strike with your staff the sea,’ and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain” (Quran 26:63).

The Tragic Event of Karbala In 10 Muharram

The saddest part of 10 Muharram also happened many years after Prophet Musa (AS). It was the day of Karbala. Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was fearless. He also stood up for truth and justice. But many bad people fought against him. They did not have food or water for many days. Imam Hussain (RA) and his family suffered a lot. Imam Hussain (RA) said, “I am not rising as an insolent or arrogant person, or as a mischief-maker or tyrant. I have risen only to seek reform in the Ummah of my grandfather, the Prophet of Allah” (Nahjul Balagha).

The Lesson of Patience and Sacrifice

The story of Imam Hussain (RA) teaches us many lessons. It also shows us to be patient and strong. It also shows us to stand up for what is right, even when it is hard. This day also teaches us about sacrifice. Imam Hussain (RA) and his family gave up everything for Allah. Allah says in the Quran, “Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account” (Quran 39:10).

Remembering 10 Muharram Today

Today, Muslims all over the world remember 10 Muharram. They fast, pray, and think about the events of this day. It is a day to learn and to remember. It is a day to be thankful for Allah’s help and to remember those who stood up for what is right.

How We Should Act

We should follow Imam Hussain (RA) ‘s example. We should be kind, honest, and brave. Also, help others stand up for what is right, be patient, and trust Allah. These are also essential lessons from 10 Muharram. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The best of you are those who are best in character” (Bukhari).

Conclusion

10 Muharram is also a day full of lessons. It teaches us about faith, bravery, and sacrifice. It also reminds us of the help of Allah and the importance of standing up for what is right.
