Combatting Racism: Championing Diversity and Inclusion with Love

Racism is when people are mean to others because they look different or come from somewhere else. Being mean to someone is not nice because they don’t look like you. We should all be nice to each other and treat everyone kindly, no matter how they look or where they’re from.

Understanding Racism

Racism is a big problem that makes people feel sad and hurt. Sometimes, people don’t want to play with you because you have a different toy. Or they say mean things about you because of how you look. Racism hurts people’s feelings and makes them feel like they don’t belong.

What Does the Quran Say?

In the Quran, which is a holy book for Muslims, it says,

“O humanity, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.” (Quran 49:13)

This means that we are all different, but we should be kind to each other and treat each other well.

Lessons from West African Scholars

In West Africa, some wise scholars study the Quran and teach others about its lessons. One of the lessons they teach is from a part of the Quran called Sūrah al-Ḥujurāt. This part of the Quran tells us to be kind and respectful to everyone, no matter where they’re from or how they look.

The Story of Bilāl ibn Rabāḥ

A man named Bilāl ibn Rabāḥ lived long ago in Arabia. He was a dark-skinned man from Ethiopia. Some people didn’t like him due to his skin colour, but the Prophet Muhammad treated him like a brother. Bilāl was loyal and kind and became one of the Prophet’s closest companions.

Be Like Bilāl: Kindness Overcomes Racism

From Bilāl’s story, we can learn that being nice to everyone is essential, no matter how they look or where they’re from. If we are kind and respectful to others, we can help make the world a better place. Like Bilāl, we should treat others with love and respect, even if they differ.

Stand Up Against Racism

If we see someone being treated because they look different, we should help them and say it’s unfair. We can tell others that it’s not nice to judge people by how they look. We should act like the Prophet Muhammad, who was fair and lovely to everyone.

Conclusion

Racism is a big problem that hurts people’s feelings and makes them feel sad. But we can all work together to improve the world by being kind and respectful to each other. We should treat others the way we want, with love and respect. We can learn from the Quran to stand up against being mean to others because they look different. We should be kind and spread love everywhere. Join JFLN Academy for learning.
