IAEI serves as a living platform where ideas meet responsibility. It reminds us that Islamic economics must not remain confined to seminar halls, academic journals, or policy documents. Rather, it must be grounded in the real needs of the ummah—addressing poverty, inequality, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and the empowerment of the marginalized. Being an activist of the organization of expertise in the container of the Indonesian Islamic Economists Association (IAEI), which is an institution of intellectuals who have integrity, and freedom of thought that concentrates on Islamic economics. Not only profane choices, but also based on sacred considerations and choices as a form of actualization and a form of devotion of a Muslim to worship Allah SWT.
IAEI is essentially a mandate for activists and experts in Islamic economics to ground it in society. Being an IAEI board member is one form of intellectual jihad that is no less severe than jihad in physical warfare. This statement may sound utopian, but for the sake of upholding the intellectual construction and integrity of Islamic economics, then the statement should be the basic philosophy for activists and experts who are concerned in this field so as not to lose vision and routine traps that are counterproductive.
Being a board member and plunging into an organization of expertise such as IAEI with a profane vision and orientation will have an impact on the idealism that is the spirit of Islamic economic propaganda. This will make the organization into a tangible institution, but the substance is trapped in an unproductive routine (wujuduhu ka ‘adamihi).
Starting the year 2025, it is time for experts in the future IAEI organization to begin to reconstruct the variables that become the spirit of Islamic economic propaganda that is authoritative scientifically, modern in performance and true “value” as a manifestation of intellectual jihad. Philosophically, activists and experts in Islamic economics need intelligence in building a balance between the management of heaven and earth management. Through the IAEI organization, activists and experts can donate thoughts, commitment in the mission of Islamic economic da’wah to achieve prosperity (falah) which is the goal of Islamic economics itself.
