Parents in Islam’s sacred bond of love and respect

parents in islam

Parents are extraordinary people. They take care of us, love us, and teach us many things. In Islam, parents have a significant place. The Quran and Hadith teach us to respect and love our Mom and Dad.

Why Parents Are Special

Mom and Dad are the ones who bring us into this world. They also care for us when we are small, feeding and clothing us and ensuring our safety. They also work hard to give us a good life. That’s why they are exceptional.

In Islam, Allah tells us to be kind to our parents. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Paradise lies at the feet of your mother.” If we want to go to Paradise, we should care for our mothers and fathers.

How They Teach Us

Parents teach us many things. They teach us how to walk, talk, and eat and also teach us about Allah and Islam. They take us to the mosque and teach us how to pray. Mom and Dad show us right from wrong and help us become good people.

The Quran says, “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents” (Quran 17:23). This means that we should worship Allah and be good to our parents.

Love and Respect for Them

We should love and respect our parents. They do so much for us and deserve our love and respect. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “He is not one of us who does not have mercy on our young ones and does not honor our elders.” This also means we should be kind to children and respect our elders, especially our parents.

In Islam, we are taught to obey our parents unless they ask us to do something wrong. Even if we disagree with them, we should still be respectful. This is because they want what’s best for us and have more experience than we do.

Taking Care of Our Parents

As we grow older, they may need our help. They may become sick or need assistance with everyday tasks. Our duty as children is to care for them, just as they cared for us when we were young.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “May he be disgraced! May he be disgraced! May he be disgraced, whose parents, one or both, attain old age during his lifetime, and he does not enter Jannah (by rendering being dutiful to them).” This hadith also shows us how important it is to care for them in their old age.

Gratitude Towards Our Parents

We should always be grateful to our Mom and Dad for everything they do for us. They sacrifice so much to make us happy and give us a good life. Allah says in the Quran, “And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and your Mom and Dad; to Me is the [final] destination.” (Quran 31:14) This verse also reminds us to be grateful to Allah and our Mom and Dad.

Praying for Our Parents

We should pray for our Mom and Dad and ask Allah to bless and forgive them. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity), a beneficial knowledge, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).” This hadith also teaches us that our prayers can benefit our Mom and Dad even after they have passed away.

Conclusion

Mom and Dad are extraordinary people in our lives. They also care for, teach, and love us unconditionally. In Islam, we are taught to respect, love, and take care of our Mom and Dad. We should always be grateful for everything they do for us and pray for their well-being. By honoring our parents, we can also earn Allah’s pleasure and succeed in this life and the Hereafter.
